Adria in Mannheim

I love it. Even as a teenager, the Adria was a place to go. One might expect something different from an Italian. But for me it's a piece of Mannheim history. The building looks like a makeshift ruin of the World War has been repaired. Sitting outside in summer and looking at the measuring station is terrific. With the Capitol around the corner, bordering on Max-Josef-Straße, by the old fire station and in the gateway to Neckarstadt-West, the Adria is an institution.

The Adria is one of the few remaining veterans of Mannheim's gastronomy. They have never been good in the sense of good cuisine, but that is often accepted for a cozy place on the presentation plate. You can certainly survive with a glass of beer and a portion of french fries. A burnt schnitzel, dried-on and withered salad, inattentive and sloppy waiters, who tell each other life stories in Serbian in front of the hungry guest, put you in a good mood. If the tables around them are ruthlessly disinfected with cheap glass cleaner and you have to breathe in all the fog, you are no longer hungry. I don't have to carry my money there, I won't do that anymore, but I recommend to the team, perhaps in defiance of all cult status, but to regard the guest as the basis of their existence and not as a necessary evil that one has during private chats dares to disturb. The same applies to the kitchen: Freshness costs a little more time, not more money. And especially after the lockdown, keeping their customers should be important to every restaurateur. It's a shame, but there are really better, far better, nice places to stop for a break that offer a significantly better price-performance ratio.

Adria offers good food, separate areas for smokers and non-smokers, and friendly service. The outdoor area can be used in summer, but is mostly closed in winter. The waiting times for the food are acceptable considering how many people are being served.

Very good Italian pizza, unfortunately I cannot recommend the pasta. The interior could use a renovation, but outside you sit in a relaxed beer garden atmosphere, the service is friendly and takes care of clean tables. The Italian ice cream is recommended!

I love breakfast in the Adriatic, completely relaxed outside under the beautiful trees. But even in the evening I always find something tasty on the menu. I am always served in a super friendly way and I feel really good. Not to forget: The ice cream: -> super tasty and not as overpriced as elsewhere.

What a problem some people have: go to the Italian restaurant in the Neckarstadt and expect friendly service and luxury food, preferably cheap? Nonsense! The Adriatic is cult, inexpensive and has the charm of the Neckar city - robust and international. A regular customer greets you

Slow service, food tasted "industrial", not homemade and genuine. We were 4 guests with different dishes. Shared the same opinion.

Food was okay. He was in love. French fries and mussels had a lot of salt. Unfortunately, the french fries were somehow forgotten for the kids.

Unfortunately Pizza didn't make a very good impression, Tiramisu is not quite as I knew it. Schnitzel with Gorgonzola is really good but the salads are not appealing at all. I like the coffee there because it's strong and they have quite large Ice coffees. The value quality ratio is not balanced. Prices a little to high for this quality.

Absolutely cult in Mannheim - home-style, good Italian food, super delicious ice cream, absolutely fair prices and very nice staff. Eating out is still fun. You also sit in the heart of Mannheim, where every typical Mannheimer, regardless of their age, background or job ... likes to eat. Absolute recommendation, I always like to go to the Adriatic.

Large restaurant with a simple beer garden in the middle of the city, right next to the main road at the Old Messplatz. Good selection of Italian and grilled dishes, large portions, reasonable prices. Fast, friendly service. Ideal for an uncomplicated, relaxed evening with friends.

Little Italy !!?

We ordered a soup, pasta carbonara and a pizza. We got a soup with rotten smell of dark grey colour. The taste was rotten too. We ask a waiter to get it back and she was surprised with its smell too. I saw how she returned it back to the cook that took it without any hesitation. Then we got a pasta that was prepared in a fun way. Plain pasta that can be cooked by a kid and a sauce made from strange cheese and salami. The taste was very strange. I'm pretty sure some ingredients were stale. The colour was dark grey too. Pizza was super simple that every kid can cook. But it looked normal. In the end I had problems with my stomach after this pasta for 2 days. However a beer and a juice from bar were good. I have no idea how such cooks were hired. I'm pretty sure this is against the law to sell such food. Please note that there is a smoke area inside this cafe that is separated with lightweight jalousie. The problem is that it's not closed properly quite often and you feel a smog everywhere. The only fresh place is near the bar, that is in the opposite side of the cafe.

A great restaurant, if you want cheap and good food. Pizza and pasta dishes are available for 5-10 €. The service is very fast and friendly. Unfortunately, the card payment is not possible.

The pizzas, pastas, and salads are delicious! I like to sit in the Beer Garden in summer with friends, it's great for relaxing, people watching, and having a radler or weinschorle. The staff are also very kind and I've always had good service.

We all love Adria. Great go-to restaurant for well-priced and yummy Italian food. Relaxed outdoor seating by attractive Alte Feuerwache Platz. Lots of smokers outdoors tho...yuck! Service is hit or miss, but always good enough. Pizza and pasta are great. Lentil soup is killer! Look out, though - the risotto is actually just rice ;) Gelateria with walk-up window = part of the restaurant.
